Bettina Rodriguez Aguilera is a globally recognized leader at the intersection of democracy development, economic empowerment, and human potential. With a career spanning more than five decades, she brings a rare combination of international policy experience, entrepreneurial leadership, and transformational resilience.
She has designed and implemented over 30 leadership and capacity-building programs across more than a dozen emerging and transitional countries, training over 10,000 leaders worldwide. Her work focuses on strengthening civil society, developing leadership, and preparing institutions and communities for sustainable democratic governance.
Bettina has played a significant role in Cuba-related human rights and civic efforts, working with Cuban civil society both inside and outside the island. As Coordinator of the Comité for Human Rights at CANF (Cuban American National Foundation), she contributed to initiatives supporting the liberation of more than 600 political prisoners, and she remains a recognized voice within the Cuban exile community.
Her international work includes supporting democratic transition efforts in Albania following the fall of communism, contributing to the advancement of the first 17 democratic laws, as well as leadership and election-readiness initiatives in Libya and large-scale civic training programs in the Dominican Republic.
In the United States, Bettina developed and led the Economic Development strategy for the City of Doral, Florida, positioning it as the #1 city in small business growth in the state, and later served as Vice Mayor. She also founded the first executive incubator program for women in the United States and has mentored thousands of entrepreneurs globally.
A recognized thought leader and best-selling author, she is a contributing author to The Big Secret alongside Jack Canfield, featuring her chapter “Giving Yourself Permission: 5 Steps to Make It Happen.”
She has also developed and taught leadership certificate programs at the University of Miami, Miami Dade College, and Marconi University, empowering leaders in economic development, governance, and civic engagement.
She is a Master of Laws graduate in International Human Rights and Space Law, and her work uniquely bridges policy, neuroscience, and innovation, including her framework Mission Resilience: Mastering the Astronaut Mindset, which translates lessons from space exploration into leadership and resilience strategies.
Her newest book, Be Heard: The 60-Day Business Success Challenge, launching during Women’s History Month, provides a step-by-step roadmap for women to build certified, contract-ready businesses—combining mindset, strategy, and practical tools to create income, influence, and community impact.
